HB 79 (BR 435) - M. Denham, B. Farmer, R. Meeks, R. Nelson, D. Owens, M. Weaver
AN ACT relating to a school employee on active military duty.
Create a new section of KRS Chapter 161 to permit a local board of education to continue paying a salary to a certified or classified school employee called to active military duty; require payments to the Kentucky Teachers' Retirement System or the Kentucky Employees Retirement System during that period.
HB 79 - AMENDMENTS
HCS (1) - Delete the bill's provisions; amend KRS 161.168 to require a local board of education to grant a leave of absence to a certified or classified employee who is a member of a state National Guard or a Reserve component ordered to active military duty by the President of the United States; require a local board of education to pay the employee's retirement contribution for the period of active military duty.
HCS (2) - Retain the provisions of HCS 1; except delete classified employees from the bill's coverage; require that the Commonwealth of Kentucky rather than a local school district pay a certified employee's retirement contribution for the period of military active duty; amend KRS 161.550 to require the state to provide annual appropriations to cover the cost.
HFA (1, M. Denham) - Delete classified employees from the bill's coverage.
HFA (2, F. Rasche) - Amend to require the Kentucky Teachers' Retirement System rather than a local school district pay a certified member's contribution and any accrued interest required to be paid in order for the member to receive service credit for the period of active military duty.
HFA (3, F. Rasche) - Amend to require the Commonwealth of Kentucky rather than a local school district pay a certified member's contribution and any accrued interest required to be paid in order for the member to receive service credit for the period of active military duty; amend KRS 161.550 to require the state to provide annual appropriations to cover the cost.
