     AN ACT relating to cultural competency education of health care providers.
     Create a new section of KRS Chapter 214 to declare findings of the General Assembly related to disparities in health care among minority groups; create a new section of KRS Chapter 214 to require the Cabinet for Health and Family Services to assess the impact of the education requirements included in this Act on treatment decisions and the prevalence of specified diseases and to report the finding to the Legislative Research Commission and the Interim Joint Committee on Health and Welfare beginning in September 2009 and every two years thereafter; create a new section of KRS 311.530 to 311.620 to require colleges of podiatry to include cultural competence in the curriculum; amend KRS 311.450 to require podiatrists to complete a cultural competency continuing education course at least every two years; create a new section of KRS 311.390 to 311.510 to require colleges or schools of medicine to include cultural competence in the curriculum; amend KRS 311.601 to require physicians to complete a cultural competency continuing education course at least every two years; amend KRS 311.844 to require physician assistants to complete a cultural competency continuing education course at least every two years; amend KRS 311.846 to require physician assistant programs to include instruction in cultural competency in the curriculum; amend KRS 312.085 to require chiropractic colleges or schools to include instruction in cultural competency in the curriculum; amend KRS 312.175 to require chiropractors to complete a cultural competency continuing education course at least every two years; amend KRS 313.040 to require each dental college or school to include instruction in cultural competency in the curriculum; amend KRS 313.080 to require dentists to complete a cultural competency continuing education course at least every two years; amend KRS 313.290 to require dental hygiene schools to include instruction in cultural competency in the curriculum; amend KRS 313.305 to require dental hygienists to complete a cultural competency continuing education course at least every two years; create a new section of KRS 314.011 to 314.161 to require schools of nursing to include instruction in cultural competency in the curriculum; amend KRS 314.073 to require nurses, licensed practical nurses, and registered nurses to complete a cultural competency continuing education course at least every two years; create a new section of KRS Chapter 315 to require schools or colleges of pharmacy to include instruction in cultural competency in the curriculum; and amend KRS 315.065 to require pharmacists to complete a cultural competency continuing education course at least every two years.
