SB 180 (BR 1491) - K. Stine, J. Denton, R. Roeding

     AN ACT relating to access to primary health care for the uninsured.
     Create a new section of KRS 211 to require the Cabinet for Health and Family Services to establish the Kentucky Physicians Care Program if funds are available; permit the program to operate and maintain a toll-free hotline referral service, maintain records, provide client referrals, permit the program to create temporary volunteer advisory committees, apply for and accept funds, and contract with an independent third party to provide services; establish eligibility criteria; prohibit charging fees; require the cabinet to promulgate administrative regulations to implement the provisions of this Act.

SB 180 - AMENDMENTS


     SCS - Retain original provisions of the bill; clarify that one criterion for eligibility is that an individual is not qualified for government medical assistance programs.

     HFA (1, S. Nunn) - Retain original provisions of the bill; clarify that applicants for the program may reapply each year.
