SB 204 (BR 2138) - R. Stivers II
AN ACT relating to county detectives.
Amend KRS 69.360, relating to county detectives, to permit all county detectives to execute process statewide.
SB 204 - AMENDMENTS
SCS - Amend to limit bill's provisions to civil process.
SFA (1, R. Stivers II) - Restore the ability of county detectives in county containing a consolidated local government to serve both civil and criminal process; retain ability of county detectives in other counties to serve civil process only.
SFA (2, R. Roeding) - Retain most original of the original language; delete service of civil process statewide and permit the county detective to serve process in any county in the state where the sheriff of that county has a written agreement with the county attorney employing the county detective permitting the service civil of process.
HCS - Limit jurisdiction of noncertified county detectives, for service of process, to the county where the county attorney is elected.
HFA (1, A. Arnold) - Retain original provisions of this Act; amend KRS 64.185 to permit a county coroner to appoint additional deputy coroners with approval of the fiscal court.
HFA (2/Title, A. Arnold) - Make title amendment.
HFA (3, R. Webb) - Retain original provisions; add new provision specifying that restrictions in subsections (3) and (4) of the bill do not apply to county detectives in a consolidated local government.
CCR - Cannot agree. Recommend appointment of Free Conference Committee meeting.
FCCR - Adopt HCS; adopt HFA3; add amendment of KRS 61.365 relating to Kentucky peace officer powers for federal officers to add law enforcement rangers of the National Park Service; amend title to "AN ACT relating to public officers."
