AN ACT relating to physician assistants.
Create new sections of KRS Chapter 311.840 to 311.862 to preclude anyone from holding himself or herself out as a physician assistant or practicing as a physician assistant unless he or she is licensed under this Act; establish exceptions; establish procedures for license renewal; establish provisions for the imposition of a late fee and a reinstatement fee; extend licensing status to those physician assistants who are certified on the effective date of this Act; amend KRS 311.840 to define "family member"; "location separate from the supervising physician"; and "practice as a physician assistant"; amend KRS 311.842 to authorize the board to promulgate administrative regulations relating to the issuance, renewal and reinstatement of licenses; establish how vacancies in the advisory committee's membership is established; set out the term of office for members of the advisory committee; establish quorum for committee; amend KRS 311.844 to establish licensing requirements; create an inactive status license; establish requirements to which a person on inactive status must adhere; amend KRS 311.845, 311.846, 311.848, 311.850, 311.852, 311.854, 311.856, 311.860, 311.862, to conform; amend KRS 311.990 to establish penalties for those who hold themselves out or practice as a physician assistant without holding a license.
SB 78 - AMENDMENTS
SCS - Delete original provisions except retain original provisions related to licensing.
SFA (1, T. Buford) - Add new section to clarify that Kentucky-certified physician assistants in good standing on the effective date of this Act shall automatically become licensed under this Act.
