AN ACT relating to honoring military service through education benefits.
Amend KRS 164.507 to waive the public higher education or vocational tuition of a person who is the child of a deceased veteran and who is under the age of 24, rather than who is under the age of 23; amend KRS 164.515 to waive the public higher education or vocational tuition of a person who is the child of a permanently and totally disabled veteran or member of a reserve component and who is under the age of 24, rather than under the age of 23.
HB 128 - AMENDMENTS
HFA (1, C. Belcher) - Amend to raise the qualifying age for a tuition waiver for a person who is the child of a deceased or permanently disabled veteran to 26; amend to increase the qualifying period to 45 months.
SCS - Add new section to amend KRS 164.7881 to specify the conditions under which a postsecondary education student serving in active duty status in the U.S. Armed Forces may have his or her eligibility extended for Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarships; specify that a student who has an injury received as a victim of a party to a crime and certified by an attending physician may have eligibility extended; provide that KEES awards may not be reduced based on grade point average if the eligible postsecondary student demonstrates to the satisfaction of the authority on appeal that enrollment was interrupted during the award period for any reason specified in this section.
