AN ACT relating to cotton.
Create new sections of KRS Chapter 247 to define terms relating to cotton; to require the commissioner to carry out programs to eliminate boll weevils in Kentucky; to require cotton growers to provide the commissioner information as to where cotton is being grown; to require the commissioner to promulgate administrative regulations relating to cotton; to allow the commissioner to designate areas in the state where cotton cannot be grown, and destroy it if it is grown; to prohibit cotton from being imported into the state from areas determined to be infested; to allow cotton growers to hold referendums that would allow an assessment on the growers to offset the cost of boll weevil eradication programs; and to establish the procedures for carrying out a referendum.
