AN ACT
relating to wounded or disabled veterans.
Create a new section of KRS Chapter 40 to
establish the Kentucky Wounded or Disabled Veterans Program within the Kentucky
Department of Veterans' Affairs; require the program to ease the transition
from active service for wounded or disabled veterans and ensure that
wounded or disabled veterans receive the federal, state, and private
benefits to which they are entitled as wounded or disabled veterans;
require the designation of a Wounded or Disabled Veterans Coordinator for
the Commonwealth; require the Kentucky Department of Veterans' Affairs to
enter into data-sharing agreements with the United States Department of Veterans
Affairs and the Department of Defense to obtain information with regard to
a Kentucky wounded or disabled veteran; with the consent of a wounded or
disabled veteran, permit the Wounded Veterans Coordinator for the
Commonwealth, or his or her designee, to obtain personal information
concerning that veteran for the sole purpose of implementing the program;
prohibit public disclosure of the information; require the Kentucky
Department of Veterans' Affairs to promulgate administrative regulations to
carry out the provisions of the section.
