HB 243 (BR 990) - T. Thompson, S. Riggs, S. Westrom
AN ACT relating to the Kentucky Single Family Dwellings Advisory Board.
Create a new section of KRS Chapter 198B to establish the Kentucky Single Family Dwellings Advisory Board; attach it to the Office of Housing, Buildings, and Construction (OHBC) for administrative purposes; establish the membership of the eight-member board as three home builders, three certified code inspectors, an architect, and the executive director of the OHBC; set forth qualifications; establish three-year staggered terms; specify the initial terms; prohibit serving more than two consecutive terms; permit members to serve until their successors are appointed; designate the executive director of the OHBC as chair; establish the quorum, meetings, and per diem; direct the new board to review and interpret the International Building Code and make recommendations to the Kentucky Board of Housing, Buildings, and Construction as to which elements should be incorporated into the Kentucky State Residential Building Code; require the new board to perform any other duties and responsibilities relating to single family dwellings that may be assigned by the Kentucky Board of Housing, Buildings, and Construction.

HCS - Retain the original provisions, except change the Kentucky Single Family Dwellings Advisory Board to the Kentucky Single Family Dwellings Advisory Committee throughout the bill.
HCA (1/Title, S. Riggs) - Make title amendment.
SFA (1, B. Leeper) - Amend Section 1 to require membership of the committee to reflect different geographic regions of the state including at least one member from the New Madrid fault earthquake hazard area, at least one member from an Appalachian county, at least one member from a metropolitan area, and at least one member from a rural area.
