AN ACT relating to health insurance coverage of air ambulance services.
Create a new section of Subtitle 17A of KRS Chapter 304 to require a health insurer that does not provide coverage for air ambulance service in a health benefit plan to make available and offer to the purchaser air ambulance service coverage with a deductible, copayment, and coinsurance that does not exceed that which is applicable to ground ambulance service; define "air ambulance service" as air ambulance transportation of the insured if emergency medical services, the attending physician, or the health benefit plan determines that an air ambulance is the only medically appropriate means of transportation to the nearest hospital with appropriate facilities.
