SB 135 (BR 1584) - T. Buford

     AN ACT relating to individual market health benefit plans.
     Amend KRS 304.17A-230 to increase the pre-existing condition exclusion time period for individual market health benefit plans from the preceding 6 months to 12 months, provide the exclusion shall not extend for a period of more than 12 months, and require the insurer to notify the insured prior to imposing the exclusion; require pro rata reduction of the time period for individuals who served under a pre-existing condition clause under an expired individual market health benefit plan if the individual applies for coverage not more than 30 days after the coverage expires; and provide that pregnancy shall be considered a pre-existing condition.
