SB 144/LM (BR 176) - D. Kelly

     AN ACT relating to reorganization.
     Amend and repeal various sections of the Kentucky Revised Statutes relating to the former Justice Cabinet, which is renamed the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet; Create Office of Drug Control Policy in the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet; delineate the independent aspects of the Department of Public Advocacy's operation within the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet; transfer the Division of Motor Vehicle Enforcement from the Transportation Cabinet to a new department in the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet; make other changes required; confirm Executive Order 2006-496, filed May 4, 2006, and Executive Order 2006-805, dated July 10, 2006.

SB 144 - AMENDMENTS


     HCS/LM - Retain original provisions except clarify that investigations by the Cabinet's Office of Investigations are restricted to matters within the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet; direct the office to report violations to the Secretary; direct the Secretary, if required, to refer the matter to the appropriate state or federal official or agency.
