     AN ACT relating to private investigators.
     Amend KRS 329A.010 to define "associate private investigator" and "sole proprietor"; amend KRS 329A.035 to establish an associate private investigator's license; establish the contents of the application and the requirements for licensing; exempt an applicant for the associate license from the examination requirement; exempt a corporation's qualifying agent from the examination requirement if the agent is not an owner or private investigator; amend KRS 329A.040 to establish a licensing fee to be set forth by the board in administrative regulations for the associate private investigator of $50 or less; require applicants for the associate license to undergo a criminal history background check; permit the board to issue associates temporary, nonrenewable licenses under specified conditions; amend KRS 329A.045 to conform; amend KRS 329A.070 to delete provision exempting employees of private investigators or investigating companies who work less than 240 hours from the purview of this chapter; exempt persons performing their duties as process servers under KRS 454.145 from complying with the provisions of this chapter.
