AN ACT relating to the unlawful purchase or possession of alcoholic beverages by underage persons.
Create a new section of KRS Chapter 244 to declare additional penalties for a person under 21 years of age who is convicted of possession, purchase, or attempt to purchase alcoholic beverages in violation of KRS 244.085(3); find a person convicted of a first offense guilty of a Class B misdemeanor and suspend the person's driver's license for three months; increase driver's license suspension to a range of six months to one year for each subsequent offense; declare additional penalties for a person convicted of knowingly selling, giving, purchasing, or procuring any alcoholic or malt beverage in any form to or for a minor in violation of KRS 244.085(3) or 530.070(1)(a); indicate that a person convicted of a first offense is guilty of a Class A misdemeanor and suspend the person's driver's license for three months; increase driver's license suspension to a range of six months to one year for each subsequent offense; exempt a parent or guardian of the minor or any person directly acting as a licensee or the employee of a licensee operating under a license issued pursuant to KRS 243.020 to 243.670.
