AN ACT relating to speech-language pathologists and audiologists.
Create a new section of KRS Chapter 157 to provide an annual salary supplement for speech-language pathologists and audiologists who have a certificate of competence issued by the American Speech Language Hearing Association; require as conditions of receiving the supplement that the pathologist or audiologist is employed by a local board of education to provide or coordinate speech-language pathology or audiology of students and holds a valid credential from the Education Professional Standards Board or a license issued by the Kentucky Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology; require that the salary supplement be equivalent to the supplement paid teachers with national teacher certification; require that the salary supplement be considered when considering contributions to the Kentucky Teachers' Retirement System; require the local board of education to request reimbursement from the fund to support educational excellence; require the supplement to cease if the person is employed by the school in a capacity where the provision of speech language pathology and audiology services is incidental to that person's other teaching or administrative duties.
