     AN ACT relating to consumer protection.
    Create a new section of KRS Chapter 367, relating to consumer protection, to prohibit business solicitation within thirty days following accidents; amend KRS 367.990 to establish penalty.

HB 282 - AMENDMENTS


     HCS - Retain the penalty provision but delete the original solicitation provision and create a new section of KRS Chapter 367 in lieu thereof, relating to consumer protection, to define "nonrecourse civil litigation funding provider", "funding provider" and "practitioner"; prohibit solicitation by a practitioner or a civil litigation funding provider of a motor vehicle accident victim or the victim's relative for a period of 30 days after the accident for the purpose of making a basic reparation benefits claim or for the purpose of advancing money to potential personal injury claimants; and prohibit solicitation of the victim or a relative of the victim on behalf of a practitioner or funding provide.
