HB 492 (BR 1630) - J. Bell, M. Cherry, T. Riner, J. DeCesare

     AN ACT relating to public records.
     Create a new section of KRS Chapter 7 requiring the Legislative Research Commission to provide public access to legislative branch financial information; create a new section of KRS Chapter 26A requiring the Administrative Office of the Courts to provide public access to judicial branch financial information; create a new section of KRS Chapter 42 to require the Finance and Administration Cabinet to provide public access to executive branch financial information; amend KRS 164A.565 to require the governing boards of each postsecondary educational institution to make budget, financial statements, and governing board meeting records available on each institution's Web site; direct the staff of the Legislative Research Commission to study the use of the Internet by local governments to provide citizen access to their financial and other information.

     HCS - Retain original provisions of the bill; require Web sites to display required information by January 1, 2011.

     HFA (1, S. Rudy) - Retain original provisions of the bill; require the Finance and Administration Cabinet to link audits performed by the Auditor of Public Accounts, and the uniform forms described in KRS 48.040, to its Web site.
