HB 187 (BR 321) - T. Burch

     AN ACT relating to hospital employees.
     Create new section of KRS Chapter 216B to prohibit a licensed hospital from prohibiting a registered nurse from wearing a badge or other insignia indicating that the person is a registered nurse; prohibit hospital from retaliating against employee who reports a violation to the cabinet; provide for a fine of not less than $100 and not more than $500 for a violation.

HB 187 - AMENDMENTS


     HCS - Provide that hospital licensed under 216B shall not prohibit person who is licensed, registered, certified or otherwise regulated under state law from wearing a badge or insignia indicating that the person is a licensed, registered, certified or otherwise regulated health care provider, provided the badge or insignia does not violate sterile procedures, provide for no retaliation against health care provider for reporting a violation, provide for fine between $100 and $500 for any hospital violating provisions.
     SCA (1, T. Buford) - Direct that no other information appear on the badge unless approved by the hospital chief executive officer, facility manager, or designee.
     SFA (2, T. Philpot) - Retain original provisions except add requirement that licensed, registered, certified or otherwise regulated employees wear badge or insignia, provided it does not violate sterile procedures.
     SFA (3/Title, T. Philpot) - Make title amendment.
