HB 211/FN (BR 223) - S. Nunn, J. Hoover

     AN ACT relating to boating.
     Create a new section of KRS 235 to prohibit boats from mooring or anchoring in lake areas with drinking water intakes; direct the Division of Water to post signs indicating lake areas with drinking water intakes.

HB 211 - AMENDMENTS


     HCA (1, S. Nunn) - Allow a water supply system to apply to the division to protect a water intake rather than mandate that no vessel shall moor near an intake; allow a water supply system to apply to extend the area of protection up to 300 feet; require the water supply system to be responsible for posting signs rather than the division; exempt private or commercial docks from subsection (1).
     HFA (1, S. Nunn) - Allow a water supply system to request that the area of protection be extended beyond 100 feet but to no more than 300 feet.
     HFA (2, S. Nunn) - Allow water supply systems with intakes on lake waters to request the prohibition on mooring be extended beyond one hundred feet, up to three hundred feet; require the division to inform the Department for Fish and Wildlife Resources of a request to extend; exempt private or commercial docks in existence on the effective date of the Act from the prohibition of mooring or anchoring within one hundred feet of a drinking water intake.
     HFA (3, S. Nunn) - Allow a water supply system to apply to the division to protect a water intake rather than mandate that no vessel shall moor near an intake; allow a water supply system to apply to extend the area of protection up to 300 feet; require the water supply system to be responsible for posting signs rather than the division; exempt private or commercial docks from subsection (1).
