HB 218 (BR 1395) - P. Clark, A. Maricle

     AN ACT relating to inactive license status for cosmetology licensees.
     Amend KRS 317A.050 to create an inactive license for cosmetology licensees; exempt inactive licensees from annual continuing education and license renewal; allow an inactive license to be restored and give the board the discretion of imposing one year of continuing education requirements as a condition; prohibit an inactive licensee from practicing cosmetology for consideration, but allow an inactive licensee to purchase supplies; and specify various fees.

HB 218 - AMENDMENTS


     HCS - Raise fee for inactive license from $5 to $12; delete language exempting inactive licensees from annual license renewal; and delete language requiring the payment of a fee equal to the applicable renewal fee upon application for restoration of an inactive license.
     SFA (1, D. Kelly) - Delete requirement that a cosmetologist or nail technician who rents a booth in a salon must have a separate salon license; require continuing education every two (2) years instead of annually and reduce the number of hours from 8 to a minimum of 6 for an instructor and from 6 to a minimum of 4 for a cosmetologist or nail technician; require that product-specific and out-of-state continuing education offerings be accepted by the board if they meet other applicable criteria; and provide for advanced certification for licensees.
