AN ACT relating to education.
Create a new section of KRS Chapter 158, to define home study program; require the parent or guardian to submit a declaration of intent to provide a home study program within 30 days after its establishment and annually thereafter; require the Kentucky Board of Education to select at least 3 commercially available standardized norm-referenced tests for administration to home study program students; require the local board to notify parents offering home study program of the tests and administration time; revoke exemption to compulsory school attendance if the parent fails to comply; make the Department of Education responsible for the costs of purchasing and scoring the selected test; amend KRS 159.030 to exempt students enrolled and in regular attendance in a home study program from the requirements relating to compulsory school attendance.
