AN ACT relating to electrical services.
Create new sections and amend various sections of KRS 227.450 to 227.500 and 227.530 to establish a state licensing program for electrical contractors and master electricians; set out the costs of the examinations, not to exceed costs established by testing service; require the Department of Housing, Building and Construction to promulgate administrative regulations establishing licensing requirements to include satisfactory completion of an approved examination; exclude from new examination requirements those that have been certified by the city or county or those holding an examination certificate from the state; permit anyone who is lawfully established as an electrical contractor or master electrician to be issued a similar license subject to board approval; years of verifiable experience; create new sections requiring the department to promulgate administrative regulations establishing licensing cost and procedures for retaking the examination; set out grounds by which a license may be suspended revoked, or not renewed; require a KRS Chapter 13B hearing before suspending, revoking, or not renewing a license or rejecting an application or imposing a fine if requested by the licensee or applicant; permit a city or county with a licensing program for electricians and electrical contractors prior to July 15, 1998, to retain its program.
