HB 900 (BR 2581) - T. Riner, J. Crenshaw, C. Miller

     AN ACT relating to students.
     Amend KRS 159.010 to eliminate the sixty (60) day notification and waiting period prior to a student between the ages of sixteen and eighteen being able to withdraw from school; and amend KRS 159.051 to require that a student who has dropped out and enrolled in a home school and who requests reinstatement of a driver's license show proof to the public school administrator that the academic deficiencies the student had while enrolled in public school have been corrected.

HB 900 - AMENDMENTS


     HCS - Amend KRS 159.010 to remove the 60 day withdrawal notice and require a counseling session for the student and the student's parent(s) with a school counselor.
     SCA (1, L. Casebier) - Amend KRS 159.150 to define tardiness for three or more days without a valid excuse as truancy and permit local board to adopt policies on student compliance with laws and make-up of unexcused absences and impose sanctions for non-compliance.
