SB 242 (BR 1362) - R. Stivers

     AN ACT relating to school employees.
     Establish a new section in KRS Chapter 161 to require that any references to criminal allegations against a teacher be removed from the teacher's personnel file if he or she is found not guilty or the charges are dismissed or if the allegations did not lead to formal charges.

SB 242 - AMENDMENTS


     SCA (1, R. Stivers) - Add new subsection to clarify that the provisions in subsection (1) of the bill do not preclude a school board from separately investigating, taking action upon, and creating and maintaining records on the same or a similar fact situation upon which the allegations of a criminal offense was based.
     SFA (2, R. Stivers) - Change the reference from "board" to "district."
     SFA (3, G. Williams) - Expand the protection to all school employees.
     SFA (4/Title, G. Williams) - Make title amendment.
     HFA (1, J. Gooch) - Attach provisions of HB 522 to add a classified employee to the superintendent's screening committee.
     HFA (2, D. Butler) - Provide that employees of a local board may report a student for investigation to the director of pupil personnel if an agreement has been entered into with local law enforcement officials; describe the components of procedures to be addressed in the agreement.
