AN ACT relating to student discipline in the public schools.
Create a new section of KRS Chapter 158 to require each local school board to adopt a policy requiring public school students to address and respond to all public school employees in respectful terms such as "Yes, Ma'am" or "No, Mr. (Surname); require local board policy on appropriate punishment for an infraction; and provide that application of the requirements be phased-in beginning with preschool to fifth grade in the 2000-2001 school year, and continuing with one grade each year thereafter until the conclusion in the twelfth grade in 2007-2008.
