Direct the Education Professional Standards Board to review and revise the certification standards for middle and high school teachers and the program approval standards for the college and university teacher preparation programs to assure that the requirements provide teachers with in-depth preparation in discrete areas of science; the board shall promulgate administrative regulations to implement the revised standards by May 1, 2001; the board shall report on the progress of the new administrative regulations to the Interim Joint Committee on Education no later than February 1, 2001.
