AN ACT relating to naturopathy.
Create new sections of KRS Chapter 211 to require the Cabinet for Health Services to certify naturopaths; define terms; prohibit person from holding himself or herself out as a certified naturopath unless certified under this chapter; prohibit certified naturopath from prescribing drugs, performing surgical procedures, and practicing or claiming to practice medicine, surgery, osteopathy, dentistry, podiatry, optometry, chiropractic, physical therapy, or obstetrics; require naturopath who is not licensed as a physician to inform his customers that he is not a medical doctor and that he does not use allopathic medical procedures; create exemptions; establish grounds by which the applicant or certificate holder may be disciplined; permit the cabinet to promulgate administrative regulations establishing fees, the examination to be taken, the procedures by which a certificate is issued, renewed, or reinstated, the conduct of the hearings, and a code of ethics; specify that modalities used in naturopathy are not the exclusive privilege of certified naturopaths; amend KRS 311.550 to exclude "the practice of naturopathy" from the definition of the "practice of medicine."
