     AN ACT relating to Medicaid drug studies.
     Amend KRS 205.561 to require the annual Medicaid drug report to include a research study to determine the average cost of dispensing prescription medications to Medicaid recipients and the average cost of acquiring drugs for Medicaid recipients; require the research proposal to be reported to the Interim Joint Committee on Health and Welfare prior to data collection and analysis; require the annual report to be used to establish the fees for dispensing prescription medications to Medicaid eligible recipients; and amend KRS 205.6316 to make a technical correction.

SB 343 - AMENDMENTS


     SFA (1, J. Pendleton) - Retain original provisions and add other factors impacting pharmaceutical costs and dispensing fees to study analysis; require that dispensing fees reflect fair market pricing and average costs of dispensing medications to Medicaid recipients.
     SFA (2, J. Pendleton) - Retain original provisions; amend KRS 205.561 to require the annual Medicaid drug study to analyze the cost of administering the prior authorization program by the Department for Medicaid Services and the factors affecting the cost of dispensing prescriptions medications and acquiring drugs for Medicaid eligible recipients as compared to the cost of dispensing prescription medications and acquiring drugs in the commercial market.
