AN ACT relating to volunteer mentors for students in the public schools.
Create a new section of KRS Chapter 18A to permit a state agency to allow a state employee to participate as a volunteer mentor in the public schools for up to a total of 5 days in any 12 month period of time when the employee matches the agency's time; application to participate shall include a statement from the public school describing the mentoring activities of the volunteer and how the activities are part of an overall dropout prevention strategy in the school.

HCS/FN - Amend definition of "state employee" to include employees of state institutions of postsecondary education and exclude employees of local school boards.
