HB 181 (BR 985) - M. Cherry, C. Walton
AN ACT relating to recommending psychotropic drugs for children.
Create a new section of KRS Chapter 158 to prohibit school personnel from recommending to parents or guardians that a child be placed on psychotropic drugs; require a local board of education to develop procedures to ensure that personnel understand the prohibitions; and specify that refusal to medicate a child does not, in and by itself, constitute grounds for change of custody by the Cabinet for Families and Children; and specify that school personnel shall provide appropriate services even though the parents or guardians refuse to medicate a child as recommended by a health professional.
