AN ACT relating to MTBE and ethanol.
Ban MTBE by January 1, 2005; require reformulated gas to replace MTBE with ethanol by that date.
HB 708 - AMENDMENTS
HCS - Ban MTBE in gasoline in 2006 rather than 2005; replace language mandating ethanol use in place of MTBE with language encouraging ethanol use; allow for trace amounts of MTBE to remain.
SCA (1, E. Harris) - Define biodiesel; declare that the General Assembly strongly encourages, beginning on January 1, 2006, that all diesel fuel sold in Kentucky use a biodiesel blend of not less than 2 percent; require the Interim Joint Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources to receive reports on the progress of petroleum refiners toward meeting federal standards for low-sulfur diesel fuel and the progress toward using biodiesel to help meet those standards.
