AN ACT relating to insurance premium surcharges.
Amend KRS 136.392 to require the Revenue Cabinet to enforce the assessment and collection of insurance premium surcharges through random audits of filed returns and other means; require the Department of Insurance to share information with the Revenue Cabinet as necessary to verify premium surcharge liability; require a report of its random audits to be completed no later than September 1, 2003, and annually thereafter, for premium surcharges assessed and collected during the preceding fiscal year; require copies of its findings to be submitted to the Legislative Research Commission, the Commission on Fire Protection Personnel Standards and Education, the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council, and the secretary of the Justice Cabinet.
SB 187 - AMENDMENTS
SCS/FN - Delete the original provisions and provide that the Department of Insurance shall provide the Revenue Cabinet with a list of all Kentucky-licensed property and casualty insurers and the amount of premium collected; provide that the Revenue Cabinet shall estimate the premium surcharge due and compare the results of the estimate with the surcharge paid the preceding year and report to LRC, the Commission on Fire Protection Personnel Standards and Education, the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council, and the Department of Insurance.
