AN ACT relating to increasing the tax on cigarettes to improve the infrastructure of and services provided by the Department of State Police.
Amend KRS 138.140 relating to the cigarette tax to increase the tax by 15 cents per pack to pay for improvements in Kentucky State Police infrastructure and services; create a new section of KRS Chapter 16 to create a new Kentucky State Police Infrastructure and Services Fund in the State Treasury to provide for new troopers specializing in drug enforcement, a new training facility, and various other improvements to be authorized by the General Assembly; create a criminal investigation division in State Police and set its duties; provide that the division may be known as the Kentucky Bureau of Investigation; amend KRS 138.146, 248.652, 438.335, and 438.337 relating to disposition of cigarette tax revenues to conform.
