HJR 104 (BR 1259) - M. Denham
Mandate the Transportation Cabinet to request permission from the Federal Highway Administration to experiment with agritourism signs in the highway right-of-way; require the cabinet to follow various procedures depending on whether the request is approved or denied; require the cabinet to honor its commitment to amend 603 KAR 3:080 to include agritourism signs while the cabinet's request is pending before the FHWA.
HJR 104 - AMENDMENTS
HCS - Retain the original provisions of the resolution with the following changes: in Section 2 change the reporting requirement to a one time report to the Interim Joint Committee on Transportation not later than December 1, 2003; in Section 3 delete requirement to promulgate an emergency administrative regulation on agritourism signs and require the Transportation Cabinet to amend existing regulations if the requested waiver is granted by the FHWA; and delete Section 5 in its entirety.
HFA (1, M. Denham) - Retain the "Whereas" clauses and delete the remainder of the provisions of the House Committee Substitute in their entirety; insert in lieu thereof provisions for the Transportation Cabinet to work with the Tourism Cabinet and representatives from the agritourism industry to develop a program governing highway signs for temporary events including agritourism events; require the Transportation Cabinet to report its findings to the LRC not later than September 1, 2003.
HFA (2/Title, M. Denham) - Amend the title to read as follows: "A JOINT RESOLUTION mandating the Transportation Cabinet to take various actions regarding temporary tourism signs including agritourism signs."
