HB 157/LM (BR 1063) - J. Vincent

     AN ACT relating to motor vehicle registration.
     Amend KRS 186.990 relating to penalties for motor vehicle licensing offenses to increase the penalties for violation of KRS 186.050, relating to registering motor vehicles; provide that the penalty for failure to register for the first 30 days of violation shall be a fine of not more than $250, and the penalty after 30 days shall be a fine of not more than $1,000 or confinement for not more than twelve months in the county jail, or both; provide that one-half of the fine assessed for violation of KRS 186.050 be paid to the law enforcement agency of the officer who wrote the citation or made the arrest.

HB 157 - AMENDMENTS


     HFA (1, J. Vincent) - Delete new language in its entirety; insert language under the subsection relating to registering a vehicle in another state to avoid tax to provide for an additional civil penalty of up to $1,000 for a violation, with the one-half of the money going to the law enforcement agency employing the officer who made the arrest or issued the citation for the offense.
