AN ACT relating to the professional development of school employees.
Amend KRS 158.070 to limit when professional development may take place; require a local board to compensate an employee at his or her daily rate of pay if the employee is required to attend a professional development activity beyond four days; prohibit a board from adding additional requirements to the Kentucky teacher internship program; require scheduling of staff for professional development to conform to bargained agreements.
HB 203 - AMENDMENTS
HCS (1) - Create a new section of KRS 161 to provide at least two days of professional development annually for a classified employee who has a minimum 180-day contract and qualifies for health insurance and retirement benefits; limit when professional development may be scheduled; require, under certain conditions, a local board to compensate a classified employee at his or her daily rate of pay if the employee is required to attend a professional development activity beyond the two required days; require scheduling of professional development for classified staff to conform to bargained agreements; amend KRS 158.070 to conform; delete obsolete language; amend KRS 161.011 to define classified employee professional development committee"; require local boards to develop and provide classified employees written policies to include terms and conditions of employment, including professional development requirements.
HCS (2/FN) - Delete Section 1 in its entirety to delete professional development requirements for classified employees; delete Section 3 in its entirety to conform.
