HB 372/LM (BR 1397) - K. Stein, B. Farmer, M. Marzian, S. Nunn, D. Owens, R. Palumbo, M. Weaver

     AN ACT relating to child safety.
     Amend KRS 189.125 to require all drivers transporting children under the age of eight and between 40 inches, and 4 feet 9 inches in height, and weighing less than 80 pounds, to have the children secured in a child booster seat that meets federal safety standards; make violations for failure to have a child in a child booster seat a primary offense.

HB 372 - AMENDMENTS


     HFA (1, J. Hoover) - Retain original provisions and add a new section of KRS Chapter 189 to define "truck" and prohibit a person under age 16 from riding in an open cargo area on a highway; exempt trucks in a parade or trucks with camper tops or other enclosures and trucks registered under KRS 186.050(4) on private property; require that the operator of the truck be cited; amend KRS 189.990 to add penalty.
