AN ACT relating to the funding of county jails.
Amend KRS 441.206 to add a per diem rate of $30 per day for minimum security prisoners, and $35 per day for all other state prisoners; provide that routine medical expenses and cost of inmate pay for qualified inmates be paid from the per diem, and that nonroutine medical expenses shall be paid by the Commonwealth; require prior approval of the Department of Corrections for all nonemergency nonroutine medical expenses; provide that the specific per diem dollar amounts be adjusted on an annual basis based on the consumer price index.
HB 467 - AMENDMENTS
HCS/LM/CI - Amend subsection (3) of section 1 of the Act to clarify that the per diem rates refer to subsection (2) of the section instead of subsection (1); add a new subsection (8) to the bill to require that one county shall not charge another county more than $25 for the housing of one of their prisoners, and allow that fee to be keyed to the annual consumer price index change.
