HB 562/AA (BR 1939) - H. Deskins Jr

     AN ACT relating to retirement.
     For the Judicial and Legislative Retirement Plans, amend KRS 21.420 to permit members to select an optional survivor's benefit payment actuarially equivalent to the amount of the retirement allowance payable to the member and the member's spouse, rather than payable to the member only; amend KRS 21.425 to require payments, absent a qualified spouse, of survivors benefits to a child until the child reaches age 21, rather than age 18; amend KRS 21.427 and 6.577 to provide for the consolidation of credit in all state-administered retirement plans or systems in the respective retirement plans for calculating hospital and medical insurance premiums and pro-rate the cost among the state-administered retirement plans; amend KRS 6.525 to permit members who leave the plans, but later return to the plans, to retain the original date of entry into the plans for the purpose of setting the service credit rate.
