     AN ACT relating to voter registration.
     Amend KRS 116.155 to add age and race classifications to the voter registration form; amend KRS 117.025 to require precinct lists to include information found on the voter registration form, including voter's name, age group, race, mailing and residential addresses, and such other information as may be on the voter registration form.

HB 594 - AMENDMENTS


     HCS/FN - Amend provisions of the bill, as introduced, to require that each voter registration application and precinct list of registered voters include the voter's or driver's gender, race or ethnic group, and choice of political party affiliation; amend KRS 116.048 to require that the voter registration form used by voter registration agencies comply with the requirements of KRS 116.155 relating to information which must be included on the form; and amend KRS 186.412 to require that an applicant's race or ethnic group be included on the driver's license application.
     SFA (1, G. Neal) - Require that voter registration applications include a designation of an applicant's race, instead of ethnic group; require that an applicant's choice of political party affiliation and race be designated in writing by the applicant and not a voter registration official; provide that no one will be denied the right to register to vote because of a failure to designate his race on a voter registration form; prohibit any voter registration official from attempting to influence a voter registration applicant's choice of political party affiliation.
     SFA (2, G. Neal) - Delete requirement that registration forms indicate ethnic group; require applicant, rather than voter registration official, to designate his or her race and choice of political party; provide that persons shall not be denied the right to register because they did not designate their race.
