HB 650/LM (BR 2105) - M. Treesh, T. Turner
AN ACT relating to motor vehicle insurance.
Amend KRS 186A.040 to require the Transportation Cabinet to revoke the registration of a motor vehicle belonging to any person who cancels or does not renew motor vehicle insurance; amend KRS 186.180 to require proof of motor vehicle insurance and a fee of $15 to be paid to the county clerk for a duplicate of the owner's registration if the registration has been suspended as a result of failure to have motor vehicle insurance; amend KRS 304.39-080 to set forth that any owner of a motor vehicle who fails to maintain security on a motor vehicle will have the registration of that vehicle revoked; amend KRS 304.39-090 to set forth that any owner of a motor vehicle who fails to maintain security on a motor vehicle will have the registration of that vehicle revoked; amend KRS 186.440 and 186.570 to delete certain statutory references; amend KRS 186A.035 to include a statutory reference regarding revocation of motor vehicle registration; and amend KRS 304.99-060 to include revocation of motor vehicle registration as a penalty.
HB 650 - AMENDMENTS
HFA (1, M. Treesh) - Require an insured to pay a fee of five dollars ($5) to the county clerk when proof of insurance is presented to the clerk.
HCA (1, M. Treesh) - Amend to change the reinstatement fee from fifteen dollars ($15) to twenty dollars ($20), to be equally divided between the Cabinet and the county clerk.
