AN ACT relating to the installation of smoke detectors.
     Create a new section of KRS Chapter 198B to define "dwelling unit" and "smoke detector"; create a new section of KRS Chapter 198B to mandate that single family residences, multifamily residences and structures that contain dwelling units have smoke detectors, mandate that the owner of the buildings be responsible for installation and maintenance, except in rental units where the tenant shall be responsible, set out time frame for installation techniques, establish that an offense is a secondary offense, set admissibility of failure of owner to install or maintain a smoke detector, require fire marshal's office to promulgate administrative regulations to carry out provisions of Act, disallow citing of Act in insurance contests; Create a new section of KRS Chapter 198B to assign penalty for violating the Act; create a new section of KRS Chapter 198B to establish short title.
