AN ACT relating to fire protection and firefighters and declaring an emergency.
Amend KRS 95A.020 increasing from 17 to 18 members the size of the Commission Fire Protection Personnel Standards and Education and provide for other non-voting ex officio members as prescribed; amend KRS 95A.040 to allow the commission instead of the Dept. of Insurance to administer to all fire departments all state programs as prescribed, create specifics for industrial structural fire departments that are not covered by KRS Chapter 75, and allows the commission to operate a state fire/rescue training academy as prescribed; amend KRS 95A.210 to define a full-time firefighter; amend KRS 95A.230 to require full-time firefighters to be paid at least the federal minimum wage; amend KRS 75.400 to redefine a "full-time paid firefighter"; amend KRS 75.430 to require that annual financial statements be posted in the fire station; create a new section of KRS Chapter 72 to require an autopsy be performed on any firefighter that dies while at a fire, other emergency, training situation, or while en route to or from same to determine cause of death and require autopsy to be performed by the State Medical Examiner's Office and paid for with state funds; EMERGENCY.
