AN ACT relating to U-Drive-It permit holders.
Create a new section of KRS 132 to require operators of U-Drive-Its to add a 3% surcharge on gross rental charges for rentals of less than 90 days in order to offset the personal property taxes and license fees on the vehicle, allow operators of U-Drive-Its to add a 3% surcharge on gross lease charges for leases of more than 90 days in order to offset the personal property taxes and license fees on the vehicle, require that surcharges required under subsection (1) be reported and remitted annually and provide that if the surcharges collected exceeds the taxes and license fees owed the balance shall be retained by the Revenue Cabinet to offset the cost of administering the Act, and make failure to report and remit surcharges required by subsection (1) sufficient void a U-Drive-It's permit; effective January 1, 1999.

SCA (1, K. Nelson) - Amend to specify that any funds collected in excess of the taxes and license fees owed go into the road fund rather than be retained by the cabinet.
