AN ACT relating to health insurance.
Create a new section of Subtitle 17 of KRS Chapter 304 relating to individual health insurance to require the insurer to return the unearned premium upon cancellation of an individual health insurance policy issued, delivered, or renewed on or after the effective date of this Act.
HB 149 - AMENDMENTS
HFA (1, S. Baugh) - Retain original provisions of the bill; create a new section of KRS 304.14-500 to 304.14-550 relating to Medicare supplement policies, to require prompt return of any unearned premium upon cancellation; and create a new section of KRS 304.14-600 to 304.14-625, relating to long-term care insurance policies, to require prompt return of any unearned premium upon cancellation.
SCS/FN - Maintain original provisions; create a new section of KRS Chapter 304.14-510 to 304.14-550 to require the commissioner of the Department of Insurance to biennially compile a consumer's guide to Medicare supplement insurance in Kentucky; authorize the commissioner to promulgate administrative regulations setting forth information to be provided to the department for use in the guide; require the commissioner to assess insurers writing Medicare supplement insurance on an equitable basis the cost of compiling, printing, and distributing the guide; state that the assessment shall not exceed $950 per year.
