AN ACT relating to school mentors.
Create a new section of KRS Chapter 18A to establish the Commonwealth Mentor Initiative; permit state employees to have one hour of mentor leave per week to mentor in private and public schools; require the Department of Personnel to inform all state employees of the program and to aid in its implementation and report back to the Interim Joint Committee on Education the program impact; create a new section of KRS Chapter 164 to require the boards of the public postsecondary education institutions to adopt policies to encourage their employees to serve as education mentors.
HB 299 - AMENDMENTS
HCS/FN - Require employee to agree to donate 30 minutes of accumulated annual or compensatory leave or lunch period time for one hour of mentor leave per week, rather than require donation of one hour of leave for each two hours of mentor leave per month.
