AN ACT relating to the Fish and Wildlife Trust Fund.
Create a new section of KRS Chapter 148, relating to parks and tourism, to require a surcharge on each overnight accommodation charge of the Department of Parks; create a new section of KRS Chapter 150 to require the 1/2 of the money from the surcharge to be deposited in the fish and wildlife trust fund and 1/2 of the money to be transferred to the Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources; allow the fish and wildlife trust fund to receive state appropriations, gifts, and grants from private and public sources and federal funds; require interest on the moneys in the fund to be allocated 50% to the Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources for supplementing the funding of the department, and 50% to remain in the trust fund for the purpose of accruing interest; require the surcharge to be $2 for lodge rooms and cottages and $0.25 for campsites; increase the surcharge to $3 for rooms and $0.50 for campsites in 2005 and $5 for rooms and $1 for campsites in 2010; require the provisions regarding collection of the surcharge to expire on December 31, 2030.
