Summary of Original Version | Create a new section of KRS Chapter 156 to define "district of innovation" and related terms; authorize the Kentucky Board of Education to approve districts of innovation, not to exceed five districts per year; direct the board to promulgate administrative regulations to prescribe the conditions and procedures to be used by a local board of education to be approved as a district of innovation; specify what the administrative regulations shall address; create a new section of KRS Chapter 160 to describe the requirements for a district to be an applicant as a district of innovation; prescribe the statutory requirements with which schools of innovation within districts of innovation must comply; require 80 percent of eligible employees in a school to vote in favor of becoming a school of innovation before the school is eligible to be a participant; describe the conditions under which a school may be exempt from KRS 160.345 or sections thereof; and identify areas in which districts may request approval of practices that are different than current statutory requirements. |
