Summary of Original Version Urge congress to reinstate the separation of commercial and investment banking functions which were in effect under the Banking Act of 1933, and Bank Holding Company Act of 1956, collectively known as the Glass-Steagall Act, to prevent commercial banks from investing in risky investments, and to protect taxpayers from being required to bail out too-big-to-fail financial services companies in the next financial crisis.
