| Summary of Original Version | Amend KRS 156.153 to permit schools to use non-school bus passenger vehicles designed for 10, instead of 9, or fewer passengers; limit statewide driver qualification, training, and drug testing requirements to drivers of non-school bus passenger vehicles along regular bus routes and permit local school boards to adopt district policies on the use of those vehicles to and from approved school activities; exclude parents transporting students to and from school pursuant to a compensation agreement from the requirements of the section; amend KRS 160.380 to conform; EMERGENCY. |

| Summary | Retain original provisions except amend KRS 156.153 to require an individual to submit to drug testing consistent with federal drug testing requirements in order to be authorized to transport any student using a non-school bus passenger vehicle to transport students to and from approved school activities; amend KRS 160.380 to direct a superintendent to require the driver of any non-school bus passenger vehicle authorized to transport students to and from approved school activities who does not hold a school bus CDL license to submit to background check every 5 years, submit to drug testing, and immediately notify the superintendent of certain criminal charges or violations. |

| Summary | Retain all provisions and provide that the minimum non-school bus passenger vehicle driver qualification and training requirements adopted by a local board of education shall not be inconsistent with this Act. |
